How to Add Your Address To OpenCart Contact Us Page Map Location
First visit http://maps.google.com/
If you already have a Local Google+ Page, you can type in your Business Name and it will automatically come up with your Business Name and Address.
Example: Click on “ Alpha Computer and Web Services Sawgrass Road, Sarasota ‘
When clicked, you will be redirected to your Google map business location. From here you can copy the browsers URL, or click the Square with a Plus in it to share the map location and, or right click and copy the link before you share it.
Here is my Google Maps Business link:
Note: If using a P.O Box, You will not be able to create a Local Google+ Page for your business, or Google Map location, but you can do point to your Zip code area.
You can shorten the length by deleting unnecessary data in the url like in the example below, but it will not auto display your business marker on the Google Map along with your business information.
Or you can shorten it even more.
If you currently do not have a Local Google+ Page for your business, you can type in your Business Address and follow the same steps above.
Using a P.O Box for Google Maps in your Opencart Contact Us Page:
If using a P.O. Box, you will have to type in your P.O Box Address and copy the link in the Browser Address Bar. You’ll notice that it doesn’t actually point to your P.O Box location, but it does show the area in which your P.O Box is located.
Here is a copy and pasted url from my browser:
You can shorten the length by deleting unnecessary data in the url like in the example below:
Or even shorter like so:
Maybe you can opencart edit contact us page can use the Post Office where you have your P.O Box Located, You can Google Map your P.O Box and zoom in closer and it’ll show all areas around your P.O Box location. Somewhere inside the box that’s displayed in Google Maps you will find the Post Office your P.O Box belongs to. I’m not sure if you can legally use the address, so I take no responsibility for your actions.
By now you’ll have the URL you will want to use in your opencart edit contact us page for your map location.
Now you need to manually edit the contact.tpl file in Opencart using Dreamweaver or even Notepad for Windows and gedit for Linux. You will need to transfer the file from the web server to your local computer. If you have a commercial web hosting provider, they’ll provide you with a control panel to manage your files using the File Manager, or create an FTP account for your shared web hosting account.
Edit The Contact.TPL File To Change Map Location in Opencart Edit Contact Us Page
Connect to your domain via FTP using any FTP Client, Such as FileZilla or use your web hosting control panel to access File Manager within your hosting control panel and navigate to:
Now copy that file to your local computer for editing, some premium hosting providers allow you to manually edit the HTML in a file using the File Manager.
Once you open contact.tpl in your editor you will need to find the Google map location, it will be in an <iframe>. If you’re using a premium opencart template your contact us page may, or will be different then the example below.
Here is the iFrame regarding the Google Map Location on the premium opencart template I’m editing.
<iframe width=”100%” height=”200px” src=”http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=Brooklyn,+New+York,+NY,+United+States&aq=0&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=61.282355,146.513672&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Brooklyn,+Kings,+New+York&ll=40.649974,-73.950005&spn=0.01628,0.025663&z=14&iwloc=A&output=embed”></iframe>
Now to change to your Map Location:
If you’re having problems with using Google Maps, You can use:
The tool lets you easily and quickly embed Google Maps in your web pages, or any where you need to put the map. You may embed a basic Google Map or the 360° Street View panorama. After you get to your location click Close on the popup window on the bottom left and it’ll show your PermaLink and copy it.
Below is the example I used, I edited the iFrame to match the iFrame in the Opencart Template. Which was to change “width=”100%” and “height=”200px”
<iframe width=”100%” height=”200px ” frameborder=”0″ scrolling=”no” marginheight=”0″ marginwidth=”0″ src=”http://my.ctrlq.org/maps/#roadmap|15|27.45377630538922|-82.57429538675537″></iframe>
Copy and paste your new iframe over your old iframe in your favorite editor or using File Manager, if your file manager enables editing files. Make sure to always make a backup file before any changes.
If editing locally, go ahead and upload the file and check your Opencart Contact US page Map Location to see if it displays correctly. If all is good you have successfully edited your opencart edit contact us page Map location in the Opencart Ecommerce Platform.
